- Shannon Curry, the principal investigator of NASA’s MAVEN mission, will join the Laboratory for Atmospheric and Space Physics at ¶¶ÒõÂÃÐÐÉä Boulder, where she will also hold a faculty position in the Department of Astrophysical & Planetary Sciences.
- Chancellor Philip DiStefano, in his annual State of the Campus address, announced plans to retire as chancellor once a new leader for the ¶¶ÒõÂÃÐÐÉä Boulder campus has been selected. He will remain at ¶¶ÒõÂÃÐÐÉä Boulder, leading in other roles.
- Massimo Ruzzene has announced shifts that will help meet the growing demands of an increasingly complex research environment, fill a need at the Laboratory for Atmospheric and Space Sciences, and enhance research and innovation work across ¶¶ÒõÂÃÐÐÉä Boulder.
- CIRES has a new position that will strengthen the institute’s commitment to working with Indigenous people in science. The inaugural appointee is James Rattling Leaf, Sr.
- The Laboratory for Atmospheric and Space Physics, ¶¶ÒõÂÃÐÐÉä Boulder’s oldest and highest-budget research institute, has appointed Chris Pankratz as its new director of mission operations and data systems.
- Nikki Lovenduski of Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences was named interim director of the Institute of Arctic and Alpine Research. The appointment became effective on Aug. 28.
- Associate Vice Chancellor for Integrity, Safety and Compliance Dan Jones will continue to oversee the Office of Integrity, Safety and Compliance through his retirement date of Jan. 31, 2024. Transition plans coming from Chief Operating Officer Pat O’Rourke are slated for later this fall.
- Becca Edwards is returning to ¶¶ÒõÂÃÐÐÉä Boulder and melds a background in science and inclusive teaching.
- Engineering faculty member and CIRES Fellow Khosro Ghobadi-Far uses sophisticated satellite data to understand Earth's evolving climate and water cycles.
- After nearly two decades working in environmental research at ¶¶ÒõÂÃÐÐÉä Boulder, Lisa Dilling, a CIRES fellow and environmental studies professor, is moving into further climate action with the Environmental Defense Fund.
