In addition to practices and drylands, the team participates in a variety of meets and activities. Here is a list of events the team participates in every year.Ìý
At the beginning of the fall semester, the team hosts Intrasquad at the University Rec Center. This small meet is just for ¶¶ÒõÂÃÐÐÉä Swim and Dive members and alumni. The team is divided into freshmen and juniors vs. sophomores and seniors vs. alumni to compete in both relays and individual events. It is a great way for everyone to get back into shape and to catch up with alumni who have graduated.Ìý
Swim Meets
The team travels around Colorado for several away meets throughout each semester hosted by Colorado State University, University of Northern Colorado, Colorado College, and more. Other college club swim teams compete at these invites and athletes can qualify for nationals here.ÌýFor transportation, the team carpools and drives to meets together. There are generally three to fourÌýaway meets per semesterÌýin addition to our Buff Invites. All meets are optional and included within the dues payment each semester.
The Colorado College Classic is a D3 competitive prelims/finals meet that takes place in late January each year. The team carpools to Colorado Springs and spends two days competing against other D2/D3 schools, giving our athletes the unique opportunity to race against other professional swimmers.Ìý
Fundraising
To help finance these events, the team partakes in several fundraising events:
- Football ticket scanning:ÌýThis is a great way for our athletes to get involved, and the funds earned directly help pay off the athlete's expenses for training trip and/or Nationals. There are generally three to four games in the fall semester that our team can ticket scan for.Ìý
- Swim clinics:ÌýThese clinics are offered throughout the season to help teach younger swimmers in the Boulder area. This is a fun way for athletes to give back to the community while also earning some money for the team
- Other minor fundraisers:ÌýThese may include setup/teardown for basketball games, community fundraisers, and more.Ìý
None of our fundraising is required, however it is highly encouraged.Ìý
Western Regionals
The annual College Club Swimming Western Regionals is our biggest meet for the fall semester. The meet is generally hosted by the University of Utah in Salt Lake City in November. The team travels out via van and spends two days competing against other club teams from the western states. The cost of this meet is included in team dues, so everyone is encouraged to go and race their hardest.Ìý
Training Trip
Every winter break, the team travels to somewhere tropical for a focused and intense week of swimming. Historically, we have visited Florida and Southern California. The trip is designed to keep everyone in shape coming out of winter break and features some of the most intense practices of the season. In addition to practicing on this trip, the team spends time going to the beach, shopping, sightseeing, and going out to eat. This trip is not included under team dues, so it is recommended everyone who attends the trip partakes in ticket scanning to fundraise.
Buff Invite
Ìý
Throughout the season, the team hosts two Buff Invites - one each semester. Fall semester, the meet is held at the University Rec Center. Spring Semester, the meet is hosted at the Veterans Memorial Aquatic Center in Thornton, CO. This two-day meet is prelims/finals and is usually our last chance meet to qualify for nationals. Teams from all across Colorado and neighboring states come to compete for both meets.Ìý
College Club Swimming Nationals
Nationals is the final meet of the season. This is the only qualifying meet, and athletes spend all season racing to qualify for as many times as possible (Click here for qualification times). Historically, Nationals has been hosted in state of the art facilities at Ohio State, Greensboro, Georgia Tech, and more.Ìý
