Observations at the Speech, Language and Hearing Clinic (SLHC) at ¶¶ÒõÂÃÐÐÉä Boulder

The American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) requires 25 hours of guided observation by undergraduates seeking post-baccalaureate opportunities in speech-language pathology. Guided observations allow students to observe professionals working with clients and interact with ASHA-certified speech-language pathologists. Students must retain signed observation logs for their own records. SLHC does not keep copies of student’s observation logs. ¶¶ÒõÂÃÐÐÉä students (any campus or online program), ¶¶ÒõÂÃÐÐÉä alumni and ¶¶ÒõÂÃÐÐÉä SLHS graduate program applicants can participate in guided live or video session observations.

  • SLHC Sessions (synchronous): Students observe live sessions (in SLHC or Zoom) and meet with a clinical supervisor to ask questions and discuss the observation.
  • Video Sessions (asynchronous): Students observe recorded video sessions and meet with a clinical supervisor in a scheduled group debrief to ask questions and discuss the observation.

Please complete the Observation Inquiry Form to request clinical observations. Approved students will be given access to the Canvas Observation Course where they can complete pre-observation forms and view the upcoming observation schedule. (*¶¶ÒõÂÃÐÐÉä students enrolled in SLHS 4918 will automatically be enrolled in the Canvas Observation Course and do not need to complete this form.) Observers must complete pre-observation forms and comply with observation rules and etiquette.
