Bikes

Biking is a fun, clean and easy way to get around campus as well as the city of Boulder and beyond.

Biking as a primary form of transportation helps reduce our negative impact on the environment, is an excellent form of exercise, and could save money that would otherwise be spent on gas and parking.

Bike Program

Boulder’s Bike Program is managed by the Environmental Center and provides a wide variety of resources to keep you pedaling throughout the year. Visit the Environmental Center’s Bike Program website to register your bike and learn more about the resources available to students, staff and faculty.

Boulder BCycle

on campus make bike sharing more convenient than ever for Boulder students and employees.  Boulder BCycle is a great option for the days you leave your car or bike at home and need a quick way to get around campus, as well as for getting between campuses.

Boulder BCycle's system of 300 bikes at more than 40 stations around Boulder now includes 14 stations on the Boulder campuses, not to mention multiple others around the periphery of campus. Bike sharing provides an eco-friendly, convenient and cost-effective way to connect to public transportation, run errands around town, de-stress and navigate Boulder without worrying about parking, locks or bike maintenance.

  • A bike when you need one - you get unlimited 90 minute rides each day. Pick up a bike at any Boulder BCycle station and drop it off at a station near your destination
  • No need to buy a bike - with bike docking stations all across the city, it’s super convenient and easy to access a bike when and where you need one!
  • Connecting to public transit is a breeze - ride to a nearby Boulder BCycle dock and hop on the bus - no need to lug your bike on/off those bus racks
  • Not a mechanic? Not a problem - Boulder BCycle handles all the bike fleet maintenance so you don’t have to worry about flats, chains or tune ups
  • Safety-approved - all bikes have bright front/rear lights and a built in lock on every bike
  • No spandex necessary - Boulder BCycle bikes have a step-through frame and a comfortable seat, so you don’t have to bring a change of clothes to ride these bikes. Chain guards, fenders and mudflaps and a large front handlebar basket on all the Boulder BCycle bikes keep your work/school clothes squeaky clean

Electric Bikes

Electric bikes, or e-bikes, are considered the same classification as traditional bicycles, so riders can take them most places a regular bike can ride, including on campus, roadways and on bike trails. Same as regular bike riders, e-bike riders must dismount in all campus dismount zones.

E-bikes have many benefits for a wide range of commuters. They are user-friendly and handle nearly identically to a traditional bike while allowing for an easy, quick ride. These are perfect for individuals who may have longer commutes and want to get around with the ease of a bike but without the extra cardiovascular effort. They make pedaling up hills and inclines a breeze. E-bikes may also be great alternatives for individuals with mobility issues that prevent them from using traditional bikes.
