Real Coco B Corp Project Plan
Group Members: Hayley Risse, Natalia Carminelli, Ben Snyder
Real Coco produces organic, single-sourced coconut-based beverages bottled at the source via farming partners located in Southeast Asia (Vietnam, Thailand, and the Philippines). The founders aspire to operate a mission-driven organization committed to continued improvement around environmental, social, and corporate responsibility practices. Real Coco has partnered with a MENV team to aid them in achieving their B Corp certification. The B Corp certification is issued by the non-profit B Lab and measures performance through the B Impact Assessment in five main categories: environment, community, workers, governance, and customers. The purpose of this project is to analyze and communicate Real Coco’s sustainability and social impact through the B Corp certification process. This will be accomplished through the creation of a document database, a supply chain analysis, a materiality scan, a greenhouse gas inventory, an improvement report, and a sustainability management system. Through these deliverables the MENV students will prepare Real Coco for the B Corp certification process and provide recommendations that enable the company to integrate B Lab’s motto to “use business as a force for good” into their business model.
