CREATE A LEGACY
With a multitude of options, you can bolster the future of Colorado Law while creating a personal legacy. Numerous planned gift alternatives are available to suit every circumstance, and each giving strategy has distinct benefits for you and for the school. Through your future gift to Colorado Law, you can direct funds to the Dean’s Fund for Excellence or to a specific program, scholarship, or professorship that you want to see stand the test of time. A gift of any amount is appreciated; you have the opportunity to create a new named scholarship or fund from your estate with a minimum gift of $25,000. Through legacy giving, Colorado Law alumni and friends have established chairs and professorships, expanded opportunities to attend Colorado Law with new scholarships, and launched dynamic new programs. From real estate gifts to bequests to gift annuities, alumni have transformed lives and have shaped Colorado Law’s future. Please consider adding a gift to Colorado Law to your estate plans. Include Colorado Law in your estate plans.
CREATE YOUR PLANNED GIFT
Bequests
The simplest way to leave a legacy is through your will or living trust. You can modify this sample language; please consult your attorney for advice tailored to your situation:
“I give, devise, and bequeath to the University of Colorado Foundation, a Colorado nonprofit corporation, (insert dollar amount, percentage of estate, or description of property) for the benefit of the law school at the University of Colorado.â€
Retirement Assets
You can make a gift of unused retirement assets. Simply contact the administrator of your IRA, 401(k), or other qualified plan and designate the University of Colorado Foundation, for the benefit of the law school, as a beneficiary.
Real Estate
You can donate land, residential, or commercial property, and avoid the hassle and expense of ongoing upkeep. You can also sell real property to the University of Colorado Foundation below the appraised value, take a tax deduction for the discounted amount, and keep the cash.
JOIN OUR HERITAGE SOCIETY
Planned giving donors are recognized through the Colorado Law Heritage Society. Members receive invitations to special events at the law school, as well as recognition in our Amicus magazine. You will also receive membership in ¶¶ÒõÂÃÐÐÉä’s Heritage Society and invitations to university events. You can, of course, choose to keep your planned gift anonymous.
