Completing Immigration Check-In
Who needs to complete the Immigration Check-In?
The immigration check-in process and e-form should be completed by:
- New international students
- SEVIS transfer students
- International students returning to ¶¶ÒõÂÃÐÐÉä Boulder on a new I-20 or DS-2019 after a leave of absence of more than 5 months.
When should the Immigration Check-in be completed?
- International students in F-1 or J-1 status should complete the Immigration Check-In as soon as possible upon admission into the United States but no later than the start date of classes.
- Students who are transferring their F-1 SEVIS record to ¶¶ÒõÂÃÐÐÉä Boulder must complete the check-in form within 15 days of their F-1 program start date as reflected on the Form I-20.
Failure to complete the immigration check-in process will lead to the termination of one's F-1 or J-1 visa status, thereby jeopardizing the ability to legally remain in the United States under valid F-1 or J-1 status.
What are the required immigration check-in steps?
Immigration Check-In Form
The Immigration Check-In Form is found in the under Arrival and Immigration Check-in. MyISSS Portal, under Arrival and Immigration Check-in.

You will need the following to complete the Immigration Check-In E-form:
- Your university ID (located in your
- Your I-94 (Download your I-94 Arrival Record)
- Your local address (Verify/add/update your local address in )
- Can be local residence hall address, off-campus address, or temporary hotel address.
- Your ¶¶ÒõÂÃÐÐÉä Boulder email address
- A local phone number (if available)
- Dependent(s) I-94 (if applicable)
Virtual International Student Orientation Course
You must accept the International Student Orientation course in the to access the course. As part of the Virtual Orientation, you will need to complete the Immigration Essentials Virtual Quiz.
- Achieving a score of 70% or higher on this quiz is necessary to receive credit.
- Once you have successfully completed the quiz, please upload confirmation of your achievement (70% or higher) to the Immigration Essentials Course Grade Submission Form (found in the under Arrival and Immigration Check-in).
