The Road to Graduation - Planning Guide
This planning guide is designed for Undergraduate Students in the College of Engineering & Applied Science. Follow the steps below throughout your academic career to stay on track and graduate with your baccalaureate degree!
- Continuing Education courses not completed on time.
- Incomplete grades from past semesters not completed by the deadline.
- Failed required course(s) in last term.
- Did not earn the minimum passing grade for a terminal course(s).
- Major or cumulative GPA below the minimum requirement.
- Did not take the Fundamentals of Engineering exam (if required by your major).
- Did not meet the College’s minimum credit hour requirement.
- Did not meet the College’s residency requirement.
- Keep all addresses current in .
- Read your ¶¶ÒõÂÃÐÐÉä email daily.
- Familiarize yourself with the academic calendar and deadlines.
- Familiarize yourself with College of Engineering & Applied Science academic expectations and policies.
- Review your Degree Audit through at the beginning of each semester and prior to course registration.
- Meet with your Academic Advisor early in the semester, long before your enrollment appointment to enroll in next semester’s classes, to review your progress.
- Contact your Academic Advisor if you are considering a change in your degree plan (Change of Major, adding a Double Degree, Minor and/or Certificate, Study Abroad, etc.).
- Consider Herbst Program courses for Humanities & Social Science (HSS) electives.
- Review the final exam schedule and policy. Â Address with your instructor(s) any issues with conflicting exam times or multiple exams on a single day
- Consider participating in leadership, research, global experience, internship, and service learning opportunities.
- Chart your personalized path to career success with the ProReady Planning Guide.
- Tap into campus Health and Wellness Services and programs for self-care and to find extra support when you need it.
- Complete MAPS requirements, if necessary.
- Begin working on math, science, computer programming, introduction to engineering and/or projects classes, and/or HSS electives.
- Complete the Engineering First-Year Symposium class.
- Engineering Open Option students should be planning to declare a major by March, before registering for Fall Sophomore courses.
- Connect with your Academic Advisor prior to making any schedule changes.
- Complete any remaining MAPS requirements, if necessary.
- Continue working on foundational coursework.
- Begin working on major course requirements.
- Begin working with Engineering Career Services on internship and networking opportunities, and other professionalism requirements/opportunities.
- Continue working on major course requirements, HSS electives, and/or Free Electives.
- Begin working on Technical (Professional Area) Electives.
- Consider applying to a BAM program, if applicable.
- Complete college Writing requirement.
- Check with your department about major required events (i.e. signing up for senior design expo, etc.).
- Contact Engineering Career Services for help in creating your résumé and other career related help.
- Meet with your Academic Advisor to firm up classes needed for Senior year.
- Continue working on major course requirements, HSS electives, and/or Free Electives.
- Begin working on Technical (Professional Area) Electives.
- Consider applying to a BAM program, if applicable.
- Complete college Writing requirement.
