Admissions
The majority of students have over two years of work experience in a variety of industries including high tech, energy, metals, construction, manufacturing, the armed forces, and, of course, engineering. However, no professional work experience is required to apply.
GRE scores are required only if your undergraduate GPA is below a 3.0. Applicants who submit GRE scores are required to score in the median to high range. Statistics relating to test scores are located at . Since the review committee evaluates the application as a whole, there is not a definite minimum score.
We offer dual degrees with Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical, Computer, and Energy Engineering, Interdisciplinary Telecommunication, and Mechanical Engineering.

There are several potential paths to admission if your prior GPA is below the 3.0 standard:
- A strong score on the GRE.
- Start as a non-degree student and earn high grades.
- Five or more years of relevant work experience.
The EMP strives to consider the whole person in the application process.
With any of the above options it is the overall strength of the application that will determine the admissions outcome.
You are required to have the following to apply to the Engineering Management Program:
- An undergraduate degree in engineering, science, or a technical field (including areas such as physics, applied mathematics, and computer science). If you do not have an undergraduate degree in engineering or a technical field, then you may be admitted to the degree based on work experience or other relevant career goals.
- GPA of 3.0 from a regionally accredited institution.
We require a minimum score of 102 on the TOEFL, 7.5 on IELTS or a 125 on Duolingo.
We must have copies of transcripts from all schools attended, regardless of whether a degree was received.
An official transcript is sent directly to us from the school. Alternatively, we can accept official transcripts sent directly to you from the school as long as the package remains unopened until delivery to us.

You are required to have the following to apply for the Engineering Management Graduate Certificate Program:
- An undergraduate degree in any academic field from a regionally accredited institution.
- An undergraduate grade point average of at least 2.75.
Diplomas will list Master of Engineering. Transcripts will list Master of Engineering in Engineering Management.
General FAQs
Our courses can be completed on campus or through distance learning online. Our online environment uses a distance format that allows you to log in to the classes live via web conferencing or watch the recorded lectures at your convenience. There are additional engagement activities with fellow students in the form of an online discussion board (threaded blog) and other communication tools.

You are welcome to attend the class lectures on main campus if desired, as long as space is available. Contact the instructor to ask if there are seats available in the classroom. This step is required in order to be in compliance with fire codes.
The Graduate School allows students to take up to three courses (9 credits) before formally applying to a program. You should apply before taking your third class to avoid complications with credit transfer. You must earn a B or better in the course in order for the credits to transfer into the degree.
Tuition & Funding
Tuition for on-campus and distance (online) course enrollment varies depending on residency classification, in-state or out-of-state, as well as the type of degree and the number of credit hours. Details are available at the Bursar’s Office –
The on campus is an excellent resource for military personnel.
The graduate degree is designed to accommodate fully employed professionals. Many employers provide a significant tuition benefit for staff pursuing related degrees and credentials. Even if your current employer does not offer such, it may be a factor worth considering in your next employment search.
