The Burridge Center for Finance annual conference brings thought leaders from industry and higher education together at the foot of the Rockies. Each year, the Burridge Center collaborates with leading academics, practitioners, and regulators to host a conference where participants discuss and debate pressing issues for security investors and money managers.

2019-2020 Burridge Conference

The Burridge Center conference is scheduled for February 27th and 28th. The theme this year is on sustainability investments, ranging from early-stage (venture capital) and mature stage (private equity and investment banking) transactions to publicly traded securities in the ESG space. Thursday the 27th will be in downtown Denver at (5PM), and Friday will be at the (8AM).

Pietro Veronesi

Pietro Veronesi is also a research associate of the National Bureau of Economic Research and a research fellow of the Center for Economic and Policy Research. Additionally, he is a former director of the American Finance Association and co-editor of the Review of Financial Studies.
Veronesi conducts research that focuses on asset pricing, stock and bond valuation under uncertainty, bubbles and crashes, return predictability and stochastic volatility. Most recently, he has been interested in studying, both theoretically and empirically, the interaction between government interventions and the behavior of asset prices. His work has appeared in numerous publications, including the Journal of Political Economy, American Economic Review, Quarterly Journal of Economics, Journal of Finance, Journal of Financial Economics, and Review of Financial Studies. He is the recipient of several awards, including the 2015 AQR Insight award, the 2012 and 2003 Smith Breeden prizes from the Journal of Finance; the 2008 WFA award; the 2006 Barclays Global Investors Prize from the EFA; the 2006 Fama/DFA prizes from the Journal of Financial Economics; and the 1999 Barclays Global Investors/Michael Brennan First Prize from the Review of Financial Studies.
Professor Veronesi teaches both masters- and PhD-level courses. He is the recipient of the 2009 McKinsey Award for Excellence in Teaching.
His undergraduate work was in economics at Bocconi University where he received a laurea magna cum laude with honor in 1992. He earned a master's degree with distinction in 1993 from the London School of Economics. He joined the Chicago Booth faculty upon obtaining his PhD in Economics from Harvard University in 1997.

Lori Taylor has over 20 years of experience within the Financial Services Industry, serving in a variety of transfer agent, operations and sales leadership roles. Over her tenure she and her teams have supported clients within the International, Institutional, Broker/Dealer, RIA, Private Bank, Retirement Plan channels across a wide range of investment vehicle types including mutual funds, variable annuities, 529s, separate accounts, sub advisory, collective investment trusts, limited partnerships, and UCITS.

Throughout her career Lori has gained expertise in client engagement, operations and infrastructure, contract sponsorship, vendor partnership, trust company operations, team formation & development and corporate and industry committee participation.

Most recently, Lori became the Head of Transfer Agent Services and Trust Company Operations leading a team of over 450 people dedicated to servicing clients. These teams support retail, high net worth and institutional US and international clients across a spectrum of vehicles and products by providing client service, account processing, intermediary support, operations oversight, and books and records management. Her leadership teams are focused on employee engagement and process optimization yielding the highest quality client experience possible for their customers.

Previously, as the Head of Distribution Client Service, Lori built a team of professionals dedicated to supporting multi-channel sales and relationship managers through the sales, onboarding, relationship management and business development processes. This includes fulfilling legal contractual requirements, delivering on client reporting needs, supporting data and analytical reporting, RFP delivery, client meeting preparation & execution, client advocacy within the firm, client retention & growth, and championing product & process enhancements.

Lori serves on the Investment Company Institute (ICI) Operations Committee, the ICI International Operations Advisory Committee, the DTCC Wealth Management Advisory Council and locally on the Colorado Investment Services Coalition an industry affiliate to the Metro Denver Economic Development Corporation. She has her security licenses (Series 7, 63) and the applicable securities principle and MSRB principle licenses (Series 24 and 51). Lori has an unyielding reputation as an innovative, compassionate, results oriented leader with a core value system anchored in unwavering commitment to service excellence with clients and the organization.
