On the Move
- Effective Aug. 26, Ann Schmiesing will be the interim chancellor at ¶¶ÒõÂÃÐÐÉä’s Denver campus, as announced by President Todd Saliman. Schmiesing currently serves as vice chancellor for academic resource management at ¶¶ÒõÂÃÐÐÉä Boulder.
- Ryan Hayward, who holds the James and Catherine Patten Endowed Professorship of Chemical and Biological Engineering, was elected chair by the chemical and biological engineering department’s faculty.
- ¶¶ÒõÂÃÐÐÉä Boulder has named Associate Professor Nikki Lovenduski director of the Institute of Arctic and Alpine Research, effective July 1. Lovenduski has held the interim director position at INSTAAR since August 2023.
- Michael Sy Uy will join the College of Music’s musicology faculty as an associate professor and assume leadership of the AMRC this fall, bringing to his new responsibilities a rich background in musicological research as well as a broadly based perspective on academic administration.
- Justin Schwartz will join the University of Colorado community, becoming the chancellor of the Boulder campus on July 1. Read a message from ¶¶ÒõÂÃÐÐÉä President Todd Saliman following a unanimous vote by the ¶¶ÒõÂÃÐÐÉä Board of Regents approving the hire. Current Chancellor Philip DiStefano will continue as a faculty member, the senior executive director of the Center for Leadership and in other roles.
- Glen Krutz will resign as dean of the College of Arts and Sciences and be a full-time professor in the department of political science.
- The College of Arts and Sciences announced Irene Blair as its dean of natural sciences. Blair joins John-Michael Rivera and Sarah Jackson, who are also deans of division.
- Director of Choral Activities Coreen Duffy will join the College of Music in fall 2024. Duffy has served as director of choral activities at the University of Montana School of Music for the past six years.
- The College of Music has announced that Nicholas Perna will join the College of Music this fall as an associate professor and the director of vocal pedagogy.
- Marlon Lynch, who joins from Michigan State University, will begin at ¶¶ÒõÂÃÐÐÉä Boulder on March 4. He will oversee the ¶¶ÒõÂÃÐÐÉä Police Department, event and emergency management, flight operations and threat assessment.
