¶¶ÒõÂÃÐÐÉä-Boulder Professor Larry Weisberg gave his advertising campaigns class a tough assignment this semester: Create a campaign aimed at college students which promotes responsible decision-making in regard to alcohol. Two teams of students conducted focus groups, studied similar ad campaigns and thought long and hard about what could keep students from binge drinking.

With about 20,000 people expected to attend University of Colorado at Boulder commencement exercises May 15 at 9:30 a.m. in Folsom Stadium, carpooling and alternative transportation are recommended for anyone planning to be on campus. The Hop and Skip shuttles and RTD buses will be on regular schedules that day. Visitors are advised to arrive early because many parking spaces will be occupied by staff and faculty during regular working hours from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., the first day of summer hours.

3,700 ¶¶ÒõÂÃÐÐÉä-Boulder Students To Receive Degrees May 15

¶¶ÒõÂÃÐÐÉä 3,700 students will receive diplomas from the University of Colorado at Boulder on Friday, May 15, in outdoor commencement exercises at Folsom Stadium. Of the 3,733 degrees to be awarded, 2,722 will be bachelorÂ’s degrees, 686 will be masterÂ’s degrees, 168 will be doctoral degrees and 157 will be law degrees.

¶¶ÒõÂÃÐÐÉä-Boulder Professor Elected Member Of Prestigious National Academy And Receives 1997 Bonfils-Stanton Award

Distinguished Professor Carl Wieman of the University of Colorado at Boulder has been elected a fellow of the prestigious American Academy of Arts and Sciences, becoming the 11th ¶¶ÒõÂÃÐÐÉä faculty member to receive the honor. Wieman, an internationally renowned physicist, was the only new member to be elected from Colorado this year. He is a fellow of JILA, a joint institute of ¶¶ÒõÂÃÐÐÉä-Boulder and the National Institute of Standards and Technology.

The University of Colorado at Boulder Graduate School will honor a number of outstanding graduate students May 5 for their research and creative work, graduate teaching excellence and scholarly activity. University Of Colorado School Of Law Presents Teaching Award To Professor J. Dennis Hynes

Professor J. Dennis Hynes has received the 1997-98 University of Colorado School of Law Excellence in Teaching Award. Hynes was selected by the law student body "in appreciation of the outstanding and exceptional effort to enhance studentsÂ’ educational experience." Hynes has been a law instructor at ¶¶ÒõÂÃÐÐÉä-Boulder since 1970 and specializes in agency and partnership law, contract law and legal history. This year he taught the basic courses in the law of contracts to entering students and the advanced course in agency and partnership law.
