This Saturday, Sept. 19, marks the annual Rocky Mountain Showdown football game against CSU. From freshman, to seniors, to alumni, we take tremendous pride in our school and our football team.

Kicking off at this week鈥檚 first home football game of the season, 抖阴旅行射 Athletics this year is increasing its leadership in sports sustainability through several new programs encouraging environmentally friendly behaviors among fans.

The University of Colorado Department of Athletics is embarking on an ambitious new initiative between academics and athletics 鈥� the proposed creation of a Sports Governance Center (SGC), which would be among the first of its kind in the nation.

The University of Colorado and Boulder Community Health announce today鈥檚 opening of the 抖阴旅行射 Sports Medicine and Performance Center on the Boulder campus.

The 11th class that will be inducted into the University of Colorado Athletic Hall of Fame on Nov. 5 will feature a diverse group of 11 Golden Buffalo legends who all left indelible marks while attending school and many who went on to great heights once their college days came to an end.

The University of Colorado ski team put individual accomplishments aside Saturday, skiing with a strategy with limited risks to get all of its racers through the slalom, and the end result saw the Buffaloes bring home the title at the 62nd annual NCAA Skiing Championship.

A new study involving the University of Colorado Boulder and Humboldt State University shows that senior citizens who run several times a week for exercise expend about the same amount of energy walking as a typical 20-year-old.

Not everybody or everything makes it to 100, but the University of Colorado Boulder Homecoming is about to reach that centennial mark. On Nov. 7, 1914, 抖阴旅行射 took on Utah to win 33-0 in the first Homecoming featuring an intercollegiate matchup. This year, from Oct. 22 to 25, 抖阴旅行射-Boulder will host hundreds of guests at dozens of major events. In addition to the traditional football game and parade, the celebration will include a concert, an alumni lecture series, affinity reunions and college and school gatherings.

The University of Colorado cross country teams have consistently been one of the most dominate combined squads in the nation and this year the Buffs looks like they will remain that way with all of the talent returning to both men鈥檚 and women鈥檚 teams. The season officially kicks off on Saturday, Aug. 30, as the Buffs will host the 抖阴旅行射 Alumni/Open/Time Trial at the Buffalo Ranch Cross Country Course on 抖阴旅行射鈥檚 South Campus. The women鈥檚 5.8-kilometer race will start at 8:30 a.m. and the men鈥檚 8k race will follow at 9:15 a.m. Parking and admission are free.

New students at the University of Colorado Boulder will be greeted with dozens of activities including a welcome convocation, a Folsom Field pep rally and a 鈥淕lobal Jam鈥� international food and music fest during Week of Welcome beginning Aug. 21. The free events give new students a chance to get acquainted with each other, the campus and surrounding community before classes start on Aug. 25. The activities are scheduled in addition to orientation sessions that cover the details of class registration, policies and student services at each college.
