Carla Ho-a, Boulder’s deputy chief financial officer, was named chief financial officer on Dec. 9.

Carla Ho-aHo-a joined the Boulder community in 2013 and has held a number of positions, first as the director of administrative projects in the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Administration, then as the assistant vice chancellor for administration auxiliaries.

She later joined Boulder’s newly formed Finance and Business Strategy (FBS) division as assistant vice chancellor for Budget and Fiscal Planning. In June 2017, Ho-a was chosen to lead the division as associate vice chancellor for FBS. She was later named deputy CFO.

As deputy CFO, Ho-a provided oversight for Boulder’s day-to-day financial operations and business strategy development, overseeing FBS, which includes Budget and Fiscal Planning, the Campus Controller’s Office, the Office of Data Analytics and Auxiliary Services.

Ho-a also serves as a co-lead for Financial Futures, a campus strategic initiative focused on aligning Boulder’s resources with its mission.

“I look forward to continuing the work begun through Financial Futures of aligning our resources in support of our mission and developing financial resilience to lead us into the future,” said Ho-a.

Ho-a holds over 20 years of budget and finance experience, previously serving as the associate dean for finance and administration at the College of Nursing and as the deputy budget director at the Colorado Community College System.
