Clark V. Brigger, a Navy veteran with more than a decade of experience leading admissions at major universities, will be the new Executive Director of Admissions at Boulder. Brigger was selected following a national search and will start at Boulder on Aug. 26, 2019.

Brigger will come to from Penn State University, where he currently serves as the assistant vice president for undergraduate education and executive director for undergraduate admissions. Brigger joined Penn State in February 2015 after spending 10 years at the University of Michigan, first as the executive officer of the Naval Reserve Officers Training Corp (NROTC) and later transitioning to university admissions leadership as the associate director and then senior associate director for undergraduate Admissions.

“Throughout his 20-year career in the U.S. Navy and then as a university administrator, Clark Brigger has demonstrated strong leadership skills and a passion for advancing student success,” said Kevin MacLennan, assistant vice chancellor for enrollment management at Boulder. “In his admissions career, he has worked to make the admissions process more efficient and student-focused. He is dedicated to establishing partnerships that expand diversity and inclusion among incoming students.”

Clark’s extensive experience spans across all areas of admissions, from leading recruitment, marketing/communications and operations to project management and data analysis. Brigger developed strategic enrollment models, in collaboration with campus partners at all levels, to support the successful recruitment and retention of diverse incoming classes.

“As the first in my family to attend college and benefit from the opportunities inherent to higher education, I am committed to increasing access and ensuring broad recruitment efforts in support of the university’s strategic priorities,” Brigger said.

As the admissions leader at Penn State, Brigger oversees the office that processes and evaluates more than 100,000 undergraduate admissions applications to 20 campuses and the online World Campus. Under Brigger’s leadership, Penn State has been innovative and forward-thinking in all areas of recruitment, marketing and communication, and admissions operations. Under his leadership, the admissions office at Penn State refined their recruitment goals to align with campus retention and success goals.

His experience at Penn State and the University of Michigan shows a commitment to cross-collaboration in enrollment planning and a passion for increasing access and affordability for college students.

Brigger earned a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from St. Olaf College and a master’s degree in national security and strategy from the U.S. Naval War College.
