On Tuesday, Feb. 7, at 6:30 p.m.,Ìý¶¶ÒõÂÃÐÐÉä's Visiting Artist Program will feature a lecture by architect Jenny Sabin, whose workÌýis at the forefront of a new direction for 21st-century architectural practice, investigatingÌýthe intersections of architecture and scienceÌýand applyingÌýinsights and theories from biology and mathematics to the design of material structures.

Sabin is the Arthur L. and Isabel B. Wiesenberger assistant professor of design and emerging technologies in the Department of Architecture at Cornell University. She is principal of , an experimentalÌýarchitectural design studio based in Philadelphia, and director of the at Cornell's College of Architecture, Art, and Planning (AAP), a hybrid research and design unit with specialization in computational design, data visualization and digital fabrication.

Sabin was awarded a Pew Fellowship in the ArtsÌýin 2010 and was named a Knight Fellow in Architecture—oneÌýof 50 artists and designers awarded nationally. She also recently was awarded the prestigious Architectural League Prize for Young Architects by .

The Visiting Artist Program has been a vital component of the Department of Art and Art History since 1972 and is one of the oldest programs of its kind. Each year, a diverse group of nationally- and internationally-recognized artists are invited to ¶¶ÒõÂÃÐÐÉä to present their work and ideas to a large audience of students, facultyÌýand community members.

During their stay, artists present a public lecture, join the faculty-led Visiting Artist Seminar to work closely with graduate and advanced undergraduate students,Ìýmeet with students for individual critiquesÌýand contribute to the program’s long-running, professionally-produced artist interview series.
