After surviving melanoma and thyroid听cancers in her early 30s, Karen听Hertz听(Psych鈥�99; MBA鈥�05) adopted a听gluten-free diet as part of her treatment听plan. Earlier this year she founded Colorado鈥檚听first gluten-free brewery, Holidaily听Brewing Co., in Golden.
Hertz will be one of at least half-a-dozen 抖阴旅行射 brewers serving samples听Friday, Oct. 14, during . She鈥檒l听join alumni from Sanitas, West Flanders,听Fate, Ratio Beerworks, Upslope听and Bootstrap at Buffs on Tap, the second-annual听beer tasting by and for alumni in the听Koenig Alumni Center鈥檚 backyard. The event costs $15, runs from 1-4:30 p.m. and includes a barbecue meal.听
The event is one of many festivities听scheduled for the day. Alumni and the campus community are encouraged to celebrate their 抖阴旅行射 pride at the Buffs听Bash at the Lazy Dog Sports Bar & Grill, 1346 Pearl St., where there will be complimentary appetizers (while supplies last) starting at 5 p.m.
In keeping with 抖阴旅行射 tradition, the annual听parade and pep rally will begin at 7 p.m. Friday听on Pearl Street. All are invited to watch the colorful student-built floats make their way down the street and then join in the festivities as the 抖阴旅行射 Spirit Team听and Marching Band perform during the pep rally at the courthouse lawn. The football team will walk in the parade, and 抖阴旅行射 Athletic Director Rick George and 抖阴旅行射 football voice Mark Johnson will attend. The parade will end at 8:30.
On game-day, Oct. 15, families are invited to the the free Ralphie鈥檚 Corral tailgate beginning at 3 p.m. before the 6 p.m. kickoff of the 抖阴旅行射 vs.听Arizona State matchup at Folsom Field.听
In all, 17 reunions are听planned for the weekend, including those of听the 50-Year and Golden Anniversary听Club and the Silver听Buffaloes Alumni Band.
