Fellow Buffaloes,

Today, the Chancellor and his team released the final decision in their review of our recent elections. While there are a lot of vastly different and sometimes opposing passions surrounding this issue, the current Tri-Executives and Chief Justice support this decision and will do what we can to ensure the continued stability and autonomy of our government.

Concerns were raised throughout the process about the fairness and history of disenfranchising voters, as well as about the implementation of an Election Code that is admittedly outdated and contains some clunky due process provisions. While we heard these concerns and took them to heart, all of the folks involved were bound by existing regulations. We appreciate the input of the Chancellor, Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs, and legal counsel in affirming the validity of our actions and our questions. All four of us look forward to working with the incoming Tri-Executives to examine and correct inefficiencies that made the post-election process cumbersome.

We have discussed how we can best support the incoming administration in doing the work necessary to continue building a stronger and more efficient student government. Whether it is in helping to review governing documents, devoting time in the summer to supporting transition efforts, or remaining a resource for the coming year, we have assured the incoming Tri-Executives that we remain committed to the success of ¶¶ÒõÂÃÐÐÉä Student Government on behalf of all of our students.

You should know that during this entire review process, the work of ¶¶ÒõÂÃÐÐÉä Student Government has remained ongoing, and none of the daily operations of ¶¶ÒõÂÃÐÐÉäSG or our resource centers were impacted by this process or the university reviews that took place. We sincerely thank the professional staff in our office, as well as our resource centers and joint boards for continuing to do the incredible work that sets ¶¶ÒõÂÃÐÐÉä Student Government apart.

Thank you,

Boneth Ahaneku
