10 things to do this week

Hello everyone! More beautiful weather to come this week, so get out and enjoy it. I am Sarah Ellsworth: IPHY major, Boulder native, and event connoisseur, writing to you from the comfort of beautiful -Boulder on all of your weekly opportunities for community involvement, educational whatnot and supreme fun. Wednesday, March 2

Float Night at The Connection.Enjoy your Wednesday evening by kicking back with a little bowling and a root beer float (or any other kind of soda- your choice!). The Connection hosts Float Night from 6 to 8 p.m. so grab your herd and get down to the bowling alley for some merriment and relaxation. .

Hebrew Shmooze-A-Palooza.Get together with the Hebrew Studies Class for an enjoyable evening of Hebrew and Yiddish song and dance and general festivity from 5 to 6 p.m. in the Old Main Chapel. Everyone is invited; you don’t have to speak Hebrew or be Jewish, but come ready to celebrate! Free food will be available in UClub A-3 afterwards. .

Apply for an Alternative Break.Are you interested in social and environmental issues? Apply for an Alternative Break. Spots are still available for spring and summer break trips this year! .

Trans Pacific Partnership: What it means for Asia and the Americas.Here’s one for you Econ, IA, and Poli-Sci folks out there. At 5 p.m., Hale 270 will house a panel discussion on the varied and complicated implications of the Trans Pacific Partnership, with panelists representing the academic areas of law, labor, environmental awareness and economics. The event is free and everyone is welcome. .

Naomi Klein: This Changes Everything.Fossil Free and the Cultural Events Board welcome Naomi Klein, award-winning author and journalist, to the Glenn Miller Ballroom at 6 p.m. to discuss climate change and the economy. Klein is known for her theory on the links between climate change and capitalistic economies, and aims to educate the student body on the increasingly threatening effects of global warming. Tickets are $5 for students with a valid Buff OneCard at the door. .

Boulder International Film Festival.Don’t miss one of the country’s greatest film festivals, running through March 6at various venues around Boulder. There is a huge list of films from all over the world that cover a plethora of topics, so try to catch as many as you can! (PSA: a great idea for a date that will make you seem cultured, but also relaxed.) .

Nacho average Trivia Night.Bring your thinking cap and empty stomach to the UMC north dining room from 7 to 9 p.m. for an evening filled with knowledge and nachos, courtesy of Buffalo Nites! The event is free, the competition is fierce, and excellent $50 prizes can be won so bring on the trivia! .

Workshop: High-speed cameras.The Atlas BTU Lab and NASA’s JPL are teaming up to bring you a how-to workshop on high-speed photography (the coolest kind, in my humble opinion) and post-production basics (all equipment will be provided). An introduction to design thinking: Design Days Bootcamp 2016.This workshop, held in the Fleming Idea Forge 33, aims to teach students a new way of problem solving, dubbed “design thinking.” Creativity and innovation take center stage in the design thinking approach, which can be applied to multiple aspects of your life. The event takes place from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., and is free - just be sure to register before you go. .

Nepal Night 2016.Join the Nepalese Student Association and Cultural Events Board for a night of celebration of Nepalese culture, featuring live performances and refreshments! Nepal Night will take place in the Glenn Miller Ballroom of the UMC starting at 5:30 p.m. so bring a friend and don’t miss out! .
