¶¶ÒõÂÃÐÐÉä-Boulder faculty and staff are being encouraged to “Slam Dunk Our CCC Goal!” by continuing to show strong support for the annual Colorado Combined Campaign as the campus kicks off its ninth year. The CCC gets underway on campus Oct. 20.

The Colorado Combined Campaign is a state-wide program for channeling employee contributions to more than 600 Colorado charities. Last year the campus raised $145,000 for the campaign.

Ricardo Patton, the BuffÂ’s menÂ’s basketball head coach, will serve as the honorary chair of this yearÂ’s ¶¶ÒõÂÃÐÐÉä-Boulder campaign. ¶¶ÒõÂÃÐÐÉä-BoulderÂ’s 1997 campaign slogan is “Slam Dunk Our CCC Goal!”

Last year ¶¶ÒõÂÃÐÐÉä-Boulder was the single largest contributor to the CCC of any agency or institution in the history of the campaign. The university hopes to continue the tradition this year.

“¶¶ÒõÂÃÐÐÉä-Boulder takes great pride in contributing to the Colorado Combined Campaign,” said Chancellor Richard L. Byyny, whose office is co-sponsoring the campaign. “We feel that it is very important to demonstrate our support for these worthy non-profit organizations that provide services throughout the state.”

¶¶ÒõÂÃÐÐÉä-BoulderÂ’s CCC kickoff breakfast will be held Oct. 20 at 8 a.m. in Dal Ward Athletic Center, room 250, with remarks by Patton, ¶¶ÒõÂÃÐÐÉä-Boulder staff and representatives of local charities who have previously benefited from the campaign.

A group of 60 captains will spearhead the campaign by providing information and pledge cards to their co-workers.

Faculty and staff can designate an automatic payroll deduction to the charity or charities of their choice, or they can participate by donating with a one-time deduction or personal check.

The combined campaign began in 1987 at the urging of state employees who wanted more control and choice in charitable giving through payroll deductions. Today the CCC is overseen by an appointed advisory committee made up of state employees from a variety of ColoradoÂ’s institutions and universities.
