The University of Colorado Board of Regents approved the appointment last week of Paul F. Tabolt, formerly director of facilities management at ¶¶ÒõÂÃÐÐÉä-Boulder, as the campusÂ’ new vice chancellor for administration.

Tabolt replaces former Vice Chancellor James Fletcher, who resigned in April 1996. Peter Barden served as acting vice chancellor in the interim.

Tabolt, who came to ¶¶ÒõÂÃÐÐÉä-Boulder in 1991, has been a proponent for improvements in customer-focused service in the facilities management department.

The administration division at ¶¶ÒõÂÃÐÐÉä-Boulder includes about 700 employees supported by an annual operating budget of $65 million. Primary departments included in the administration area are police, facilities management, human resources, financial services, business services, mailing services, the bookstore and employee development.

Tabolt has served as director of facilities management at ¶¶ÒõÂÃÐÐÉä-Boulder since 1991. Prior to joining the Boulder campus administration, he was director of the physical plant at the University of California, Berkeley from 1988 to 1991. Beginning in 1974, he served in several administrative posts at Pennsylvania State University, including director of the Support Services Divison from 1987 to 1988. Tabolt received a master of business administration degree from ¶¶ÒõÂÃÐÐÉä in 1996 and his bachelor of science degree in business administration from Penn State in 1973.
