Joe Thomas

Dr. Joe Thomas serves as senior associate vice chancellor for student affairs, second-in-command to the vice chancellor for student affairs. Joe leads the Student and Residential Experiences team, focusing on our student journey from orientation through campus life and onward to graduation and career. 

Joe comes to ¶¶ÒõÂÃÐÐÉä from Indianapolis, IN, and has worked in higher education for over 12 years in various capacities. Previously, Joe served as senior executive aide to the vice chancellor for student affairs at ¶¶ÒõÂÃÐÐÉä Boulder. Prior to that, Joe has served as a faculty member developing and delivering curriculum to healthcare students, as well as an assistant dean of students overseeing all student engagement areas, assessment, and Title IX compliance. He also served as director of New Student Programs and University Testing for five years prior to those roles.  

Joe earned his bachelor's degree in Geography (Meteorology/Climatology), along with a master's degree in Student Affairs Administration in Higher Education from Ball State University. He has also received a doctorate in Teaching and Learning from Indiana State University.
