Advice from Dr. Mull: Getting a fresh start this January
Welcome back to campus! In addition to the new year holiday, this month gives us a sense of fresh beginnings with the spring semester starting this week.
January is all about setting goals, getting organized and preparing for the journey ahead. I encourage you to take time this week and think about what you would like to accomplish or work toward over the next few months. Maybe it is trying a new study technique, landing a summer internship or discovering new communities to be a part of. Whatever your goals may be, we are here to help you in the Division of Student Affairs.
Read on for some advice, events to attend and more.

Making memorable moments: Step outside of your comfort zone
When you look back on your college journey, it will be the people and the moments that matter—both in and out of the classroom. This month, you can create a memorable moment by getting out of your comfort zone and trying something new. Depending on your goals, here are a few examples of what this could look like for you:
- Volunteer for a cause that is important to you.
- Attend a career fair to speak with potential employers.
- Join a student organization to meet new friends.
- Apply for a part-time job on campus.
New experiences offer the opportunity to learn and grow, in addition to helping you meet your goals. These moments can help shape your overall experience at ¶¶ÒõÂÃÐÐÉä Boulder, and it is often worth it to take that leap!
Highlights from December
A special moment for me last month was attending Late Night Breakfast before finals. It was great to be in community with you, enjoy some nourishing food and be able to wish you good luck before the end of the fall semester!
One of my goals this year is to get to know even more Buffs on campus. I am now seven months into role and without question, engaging with you all brings me joy in my role as Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs. Each experience and interaction allows me to learn so much you and your student organizations, campus life and our larger university community. Whether it’s joining you at your favorite dining center, cheering on our Buffs at a basketball game, or attending a student organization meeting or campus event, I look forward to continuing to connect with you! Have a great January,
Dr. D'Andra Mull
