Its intricate plot, which might have become convoluted in lesser hands than those of Mozart and his librettist, Lorenzo Da Ponte, moves forward with such swiftness that at times the observer is left breathless.

“This is one of the two or three most important pieces by Gilbert and Sullivan, and we’ve got just the right students to fill these roles,” says Leigh Holman, director of Opera. “This is a delightful piece and audiences just go crazy for it.” - As a tenor, Matthew Chellis has appeared to critical and popular acclaim throughout the United States, Canada, Europe and South America.
He has performed with the New York City Opera, National Symphony, Atlanta Opera, Opera de Bogota, Frankfurt Opera and many others. He has served leading roles in Il Barbiere di Siviglia, Don Juan in Prague, Don Giovanni, Rigoletto, The Mikado, The Pirates of Penzance and numerous others.
