Sabine Kortals Stein works closely with the dean of the College of Music—and as a member of the Dean’s Cabinet—to advance awareness and strengthen the reputation of the college through effective executive communications that amplify the mission, impact, influence and innovations of our people and programs.
Stein crafts, executes and continually evaluates strategies for digital and print communications, for both internal and external audiences—including direct outreach to more than 9,900 alumni and supporters, around 2,600 community and advisory board members, as well as some 155 faculty and staff, plus more than 500 students; develops and oversees the editorial strategy of the College of Music; serves as editor-in-chief of the college’s annual magazine, and develops and disseminates three editions of a weekly e-newsletter tailored to key constituents; leads and oversees the college’s robust social media presence and video production; manages college websites and partners with ¶¶ÒõÂÃÐÐÉä Presents to execute events marketing for the college’s hundreds of free events every year; proactively liaises with ¶¶ÒõÂÃÐÐÉä Boulder Strategic Relations + Communications and other campus partners in support of media outreach, alumni relations, advancement communications and recruitment outreach; and aligns with and contributes to university-wide content and communications initiatives, ongoing.
Stein’s career comprises music journalism, and for- and nonprofit communications. A Boulder native who’s bilingual (English/German), she’s an alumna of the ¶¶ÒõÂÃÐÐÉä Boulder College of Music (BM piano performance), Leeds School of Business (BS finance), and the College of Media, Communication and Information (MA journalism + mass communication).
Stein is also a recipient of the following fellowships: Journalism Institute in Classical Music + Opera (National Endowment for the Arts, Columbia University); Denver Community Leadership Forum (¶¶ÒõÂÃÐÐÉä Denver School of Public Affairs); Advanced Leadership Training Program (Regional Institute for Health + Environmental Leadership); Salzburg Global Seminar; Robert Bosch Foundation Fellowship Program; Transatlantic Leadership Exchange (Robert Bosch Foundation + Institute for Foreign Cultural Relations).
As a novice ecopoet, Stein’s poems have won awards from the Poetry Society of Colorado and Denver Woman’s Press Club.
