Honors & Awards
- Karina Andersen, Jace Aschbrenner, Davis Butte and Valerie Welch are among the 49 student-athletes who were honored at the 30th Annual Student-Athlete Academic Recognition. Ky Ecton, a senior on the women's tennis team who is also a Mechanical Engineering major, lettered for the fourth time this spring and spoke at the event.
- The Division of Polymeric Materials: Science and Engineering recognized Martinez's research on membrane technologies that can ensure more scientifically reliable water treatment filtration systems.
- Senior design team Urchin Merchants, who placed fourth, hope to market a specialized suction device to divers and conservation groups that could help save kelp forests off the coast of California and ecosystems around the world from exploding purple sea urchin populations.
- The Employee Recognition Award recognizes outstanding classified and professional exempt staff. The award is rotated between the various departments and programs of the College on a monthly basis so that each unit has an opportunity to honor a staff member once each academic year.
- The American Institute for Medical and Biomedical Engineering's College of Fellows is a prestigious group comprised of the most accomplished and distinguished engineering and medical school professors, researchers, innovators and entrepreneurs.
- Professor Sean Humbert, an expert in micro robotics and systems design, will help the Microsystems Exploratory Council identify new research avenues as it relates to Department of Defense and national security issues.
- Seven new grants have been awarded to advance a wide range of projects; momentum builds as AB Nexus continues through its second year.
- The Research & Innovation Office has announced the 2022 RIO Faculty Fellows cohort, comprised of 17 of the most promising faculty from across ¶¶ÒõÂÃÐÐÉä Boulder. The group reflects the diversity of expertise, research and scholarship taking place across campus.
- Mechanical engineering student Mitchell Fulton won 'Best Performing Method' for a paper detailing his novel approach to autonomously identify regions of the heart using MRI scan images at the M&Ms-2 Challenge.
- Mechanical engineering Professors Mark Rentschler and Greg Rieker, as well as Department of Molecular, Cellular and Developmental Biology Professor Tin Tin Su, received the honor recognizing their thought-leadership and discovery on Monday, Nov. 1.
