Tim Morrissey
Focus Area: Soft Materials - Keplinger Group

Tim is a third year PhD student studying with Professor Christoph Keplinger. Prior to joining the Department of Mechanical Engineering at ¶¶ÒõÂÃÐÐÉä Boulder, Tim received a BS in ceramic engineering and worked at Oak Ridge National Laboratory studying ceramic properties and processing.

He has now switched to much softer materials, using soft elastomer for energy generation and actuation. He hopes to develop an extremely simple method to produce large-scale renewable energy from soft variable capacitors. Tim also enjoys teaching and has aspirations to be a professor. He has past teaching experience in Chamonix, France and Chiang Mai, Thailand, and new teaching experience as the department’s Lead TA for the 2016-2017 academic year.

Outside the lab, Tim enjoys skiing and restoring his old truck camper, and is always accompanied and supported by his wife, Elyse.
