Assignment Change Request Process
Students in the residence halls may request a housing change both before and after move-in. The process to request a housing change before move-in is July 8-10. The request for a housing change after move-in opens Aug. 28.
There is no charge associated with submitting a Housing Change Request, however if we are able to accommodate your request for a change in room type, your per semester cost may change. Please see our rates and contracts page for more information.
Before move-in hall change process:
This process is available to students who have received their building assignment before the process closes.
- July 8 at 9 a.m. MT - July 10 at 11:59 p.m. MT with results posted in My¶¶ÒõÂÃÐÐÉäLiving Portal by end of day, July 16, 2024.
Room change requests are only considered during the time frame listed above.
- To request a change, login to my¶¶ÒõÂÃÐÐÉäliving, click the 3 lines on the top left and choose Housing Change Request from the drop down menu
- In the request, students may choose up to two hall/living experience (RAP, LLC, or Traditional) and room type preferences.
- We recommend reviewing room rates and eligibility before submitting preferences.
- Students have the option to choose two preferences but are not required to.
- Students will not be contacted prior to a move. By submitting a request, students agree to a hall change if they are selected in the process. If a roommate has already been selected, this process will not included a change with a roommate.
- Hall changes through this process are considered by randomly selecting students with requests based on preferences, eligibility, and availability. University Housing will re-assign students to a new space if they are selected in the process.
Students who participate in the Housing Change Process will receive results by the above date notifying them if they were selected for a change or not.
University Housing tries to accommodate as many requests as possible, however, participation in the Housing Change Processes does not guarantee a room change and it does not include roommates.
After move-in hall change process
This process is available throughout the academic year. Students can request a change for when spaces become available. There is no timeline for when a change may be offered as housing is filled to capacity. Students who join the waitlist in August; however, may not be contacted until mid or late semester about a change option. Waitlist status can be obtained after Sept. 9 by emailing UniversityHousing@colorado.edu.
Room changes do not include roommates. If you are assigned to a new room, you will also be assigned new roommates (with the exception of individual room assignments).
