Leadership and Innovation Symposium

The recently concluded Leadership and Innovation Symposium marked a significant collaborative effort between the Center for Leadership, Air Force ROTC (AFROTC), Army ROTC (AROTC), and Naval ROTC (NROTC). This unique event, made possible through generous funding from the Center for Leadership, provided a golden opportunity for attendees to engage in cross-branch experiences, fostering problem-solving, innovation, and relationship-building.

 During the Leadership and Innovation Symposium, Cadets and Midshipmen had the opportunity to hear keynote speaker, retired Lt. General Glen W. “Wally” Moorhead   speak on his 37 years of Active Duty service in the US Air Force.

 Key Highlights on the Symposium:

Cross-Branch Collaboration:

  • The symposium brought together Army cadets, Navy Midshipmen, and Air Force ROTC participants, creating a dynamic platform for collaboration and interaction across military branches.

Renowned Keynote Speaker:

  • A highlight of the symposium was the presence of retired Lt. General Glen W. “Wally” Moorhead, a distinguished and experienced leader. His insights and experiences added a valuable dimension to the event, inspiring the attendees to excel in their respective roles.
  • His speech was concluded by a Q&A session where Lt. General Moorhead shared tons of advice for young Cadets and Midshipmen alike.

Attendees engaged in hands-on exercises, to include a Group Leadership Project (GLP), allowing them to apply leadership principles in a collaborative setting, fostering creative thinking and practical skills.

  • The symposium attracted a diverse audience, with a total of 165 attendees. This broad participation underscored the event's success in reaching and impacting students across three different ROTC programs.

  • The event spanned 2.5 hours, providing a comprehensive yet concise experience for participants. Dinner was provided to all guests, creating a relaxed and conducive atmosphere for networking and relationship-building.
