Steiner and Miller

The Colorado LGBT Bar Association honored Kevin Miller ('20) and Dana Steiner ('20) with its 2018 Summit Scholarship at the organization’s annual awards dinner on Oct. 26.

The fosters inclusiveness in the legal profession by providing financial assistance to deserving Colorado LGBTQ-identified law students who have shown strong academic promise and community engagement. By providing scholarships to LGBT law students, the Colorado LGBT Bar Foundation recognizes these students’ achievements and provides support for their future pursuits.

Miller’s queer advocacy began with political campaigning during high school and continued throughout his undergraduate career where he served as a program coordinator his school’s Queer and Transgender Resource Center. He has continued his advocacy into law school, serving as the Colorado LGBT Bar Association’s ¶¶ÒõÂÃÐÐÉä Student Representative and the Gender and Sexuality Liaison for ¶¶ÒõÂÃÐÐÉä’s student government. He plans to carry this advocacy into his legal career and help elevate the voices of others in the LGBT+ community as a champion of social change and inclusion.

Steiner was born and raised in The Woodlands, Texas. She graduated from Colorado School of Mines in spring 2017 with a degree in biochemical engineering; however, as she completed her undergraduate degree, she came out, discovered the newest feminist movement, and realized she wanted to pursue a career in law. She interned at an LGBT nonprofit last summer and plans to pursue a career in the LGBT public service sector. She serves as secretary of OUTLaw, Colorado Law’s student organization for LGBTQ+ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer) law students and their straight/cisgender allies.
