Buildings
The Building Proctor Program was instituted by Facilities Management in 1979. A proctor functions as a liaison between a campus building, its occupants, and Facilities Management. Proctors serve as contacts for work requests, maintenance issues, and emergencies, and are responsible for advising and disseminating information to building occupants.

Facilities Management is charged with implementing and enforcing the campus-wide pest control and pesticide use policy. Our staff is on hand to handle all pest control needs, from traditional pests (ants, roaches, rodents, stinging insects) to wildlife management. We can help you with general indoor pest control; specialized pest control for campus greenhouses and sensitive research labs; wildlife management and relocation; mosquito breeding monitoring and control; safety trainings on West Nile virus, Bird Flu, and other pest control-related hazards; dead animal pick-up and disposal; and reviewing custodial cleaning products for health and environmental impacts. We work closely with public health officials to monitor risks such as bird flu, rabies, and hanta virus.
Our staff is highly trained in integrated pest management (IPM) techniques. IPM is an effective and environmentally-sensitive approach to pest management that relies on a combination of common sense practices. IPM programs use current, comprehensive information on the life cycles of pests and their interactions with the environment. This information, in combination with available pest control methods, is used to manage pest damage by the most economical means, and with the least possible hazard to people, property, and the environment. The IPM programs take advantage of all pest management options possible, including but not limited to the judicious use of pesticides.
