Paid internship at SGV International-Corporate Greenhouse Gas Emissions Estimation Project

SGV International is offering a paid internship for a college student or recent graduate for a Corporate Greenhouse Gas Emissions Estimation Project. This will be a virtual position where interaction will be with SGV employees in Colorado and Texas.

SGV is a licensed engineering company that specializes in operations technology that has traditionally focused on the energy sector.  We are North America centric with offices in Houston TX, Steamboat Springs CO, Calgary AB, Kitimat BC and Anchorage AK, but have also completed projects in 23 countries.  SGV is currently expanding into more environmentally focused areas that include environmental engineering/air quality.

The internship will be focused on completing a project where we will estimate and analyze our company’s greenhouse gas emissions (scopes 1-3) using provided software.  The intern will be responsible for gathering the information required as inputs to the software through internal sources and work toward operationalizing the process.  Though the software calculates emissions using user-provided data inputs, the person on this project will have to assess the results and determine how to improve accuracy where possible.  In addition, the intern will be asked to suggest improvements to company business processes to better capture data and highlight operational considerations that could improve SGV’s ability to meet corporate sustainability goals.  Experience in coding, preferably Python, is recommended but not required.

Compensation will vary based on experience with the option of working full or part-time.  The project is expected to last approximately 2 months if full-time and 4 months if part-time, with a possibility to extend.  As an employee of SGV, a company laptop and other equipment will be provided for the duration of the project.

We would like to virtually meet with potential candidates around the beginning of November.  The project could possibly begin as soon as November, but there is flexibility in the start date depending on the candidate’s schedule and availability.

This project will aid SGV in achieving its sustainability goals and provide the intern with an opportunity to interface with engineering consulting professionals.

Interested students should contact Ingrid Mielke-Maday at imielke-maday@sgvinternational.com by October 31, 2020 and provide a resume.
