Student Intern Position in Climate & Energy

The Department of Environmental Health, Environmental Quality division is seeking an Environmental Intern to support a variety of efforts under the umbrella of Climate Action.  Denver recently announced a long term climate goal of 80% reduction in Greenhouse Gas emissions by 2050. To achieve that goal, the Environmental Intern will assist in deploying various carbon reduction strategies in renewable energy, energy efficiency, and transportation sector, including the deployment of electric vehicles and charging infrastructure throughout the City.

This is a part-time internship (working on average 20-30 hours per week) that is anticipated to last a full academic school year starting this summer and lasting through spring/summer 2018.  

Job Responsibilities:

  • Support Denver Environmental Health in it's efforts to implement greenhouse gas reduction strategies through research, analysis, and evaluation.
  • Support data collection and input of Greenhouse Gas Inventory metrics.
  • Monitor and evaluate relevant state and national climate efforts for impact on Denver.
  • Prepare grant reports and monitor progress
  • Coordinate communication among agencies
  • Coordinate and organize public events
  • Assist in location, procurement, and deployment of City EV charging infrastructure
  • Conduct market research and propose innovative project ideas for reducing emissions
