Class of 2020: Alec Stolz

Class of 2020: Alec Stolz

Landscape architecture major and summa cum laude graduate Alec Stolz is excited for what's to come after working for DTJ Design this summer.

“Alec has pushed himself in every studio I have taught him in. If it wasn't challenging enough, he asked for more to do, or a way to go deeper with the design. He also was incapable of having a frown even when he was having a rough day. His smile and energy is contagious and I knew that the class could always count on a laugh during the day if Alec was there!” –Danielle Bilot, ENVD instructor

“From freshman year as undecided, he soon found his passion in ENVD. Throughout his college career, he worked hard and earned many awards but most significant is graduating summa cum laude and earning the Esteemed Graduate Award in ENVD in Landscape Architecture!” –AԴDzԲ⳾dzܲ

“Alec is the top of his craft within the ENVD school. His work ethic and determination shines through in his work and will do great things in the future!”&Բ;–AԴDzԲ⳾dzܲ

I would like to say thank you. I feel like I was only successful in undergrad because of you all. The support and compassion I feel when I am around y'all is unparalleled. You all give me the confidence to do anything.

What inspired you to come to ENVD?
I had come to to study engineering but quickly found out that I hate math. I was taking ENVD 1004 as an elective at the time and was sold on ENVD only two weeks into taking the class.

What will you miss the most?
I will miss the people. The community here is so special, every single person I've met in ENVD has such an interesting story behind them and I will miss the rich character that makes the school what it is.

Favorite memory?
My favorite memory from ENVD was last summer when a bunch of classmates and I went to Colombia with Jota. We were nearing the end of our massive project in Carpinelo 2 in the Mountains of Medellin, Colombia. The amount of joy and satisfaction we all shared reflecting on all the friendships we had made, the work we had done, and the hardships we had endured was so humbling.

What are your plans beyond graduation?
I plan to continue working at DTJ Design here in Boulder for the remainder of the summer. After that, who knows? I'm excited to find out.
