Emma Coburn led ¶¶ÒõÂÃÐÐÉä at the Payton Jordan Cardinal Invite on May 1 when she placed fifth in the second section of the 1,500-meter run after crossing the finish with a time of 4 minutes, 21.37 seconds. Her time ranked third in the Big 12.

Following the example set by former teammate Jenny Barringer (Econ, PolSci’09), ¶¶ÒõÂÃÐÐÉä sophomore Emma Coburn posted the fastest early season time in the world in the women’s 3,000-meter steeplechase in mid-April. Coburn finished the race in 9:56.29 at the Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut, Calif.

Coburn became just the second ¶¶ÒõÂÃÐÐÉä runner to break 10 minutes in the steeplechase, joining Barringer, a 2008 Olympian, in the event. Coburn subsequently was named Big 12 Track & Field Athlete of the Week.
