Professor Michael McDevittÌýteaches courses in political communication, research methods, journalism studies, and opinion writing. He joined the ¶¶ÒõÂÃÐÐÉä faculty in 2001 after teaching at the University of New Mexico.ÌýPrior to his teaching career, he worked as a reporter and editorial writer for newspapers in the San Francisco Bay Area. He is the author of Where Ideas Go to Die: TheÌýFateÌýof Intellect in American JournalismÌý(Oxford). Prof. McDevitt is published in journals in communication, political scienceÌýand education.ÌýHe is a recipient of the International Communication Association’s Outstanding Public Policy Research Award.ÌýHe holds a BA in political science from the University of California, BerkeleyÌýand a PhD in communication from Stanford. He returned to Stanford in 2015 as a visiting scholar in the Graduate School of Education.
