Joanne Marras Tate ("Jo") (she/her) is a doctoral candidate within the Community and Social Interaction area in the Department of Communication. Her background is in Marine Biology and Psychobiology. Jo received an MSc in Media and Communication presenting a thesis in Environmental Communication. Jo is a multimedia scholar, currently investigating several emergingÌýÌýcommunication practices during the COVID-19 pandemic. She is interested in learning more about the ways we relate with more-than-humans in a variety of communities and through different understandings.ÌýÌý

Jo is a naturalist and conservationist, serving on the executive board ofÌýÌýand as a member of the Microplastic Working Group with the organizationÌý. Jo is also a facilitator for Fiske Planetarium'sÌýScience Under the Dome, where she provides science communication support for presenters and facilitates publicÌýtalks.Ìý
