Program overview

The world needs multiplatform journalists confident in their ability to get to the bottom of important news while changing hearts and minds around important issues. As a journalism major at CMCI, you’ll develop a full complement of skills—source development, interviewing, writing, critical thinking, deadline reporting—and apply them on real news projects using cutting-edge media tools. Classes in data journalism, sports journalism, media law, ethics and more allow you to customize this major in ways that align with your aspirations.

  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Students with more than 36 credit hours must have completed an introductory course:
    • Media News and Reporting–JOU 1006 or New Media–JOU 2025
