Political journalist Lee Fang will visit the Boulder campus to talk with College of Media, Communication and Information students. On February 2 from 6:30-7:30 p.m., Fang will give a presentation titled “Investigative Journalism: From the Obama Era to Trump." The talk is free and open to the public but due to space limitations, an is required. Fang will also visit two CMCI classes and will attend the weekly workshop for Media Studies MA students. The visit and event are part of a collaboration between CMCI and the (CWA) Speaker Series.
Fang, a graduate of the University of Maryland, has been published in numerous notable outlets, including VICE, the Boston Globe, NPR and more. His book, “The Machine: A Field Guide to the Resurgent Right,” looks at the Republican Party’s response and strategy following the election of Barack Obama in 2008.
The public presentation will feature media studies PhD student Gino Canella interviewing Fang on stage about the challenges facing investigative news work in the current political and economic climate.
