Leah Sprain, an associate professor in the Department of Communication, will lead a two-year project to assess how students from different backgrounds interact and debate. The goal is to develop new ways to measure the civic and political engagement of youth.
Sprain’s project brings together an interdisciplinary team of scholars and practitioners from two ¶¶ÒõÂÃÐÐÉä centers: BoulderTalks and ¶¶ÒõÂÃÐÐÉäEngage. The team is funded by a $400,000 grant from the Spencer Foundation. The grant is part of the foundation’s larger New Civics Initiative, which funds research on how education can support civic and political development among students.
