- In February of this year, the Center for Western Civilization, Thought & Policy hosted the event, "Embedded in Iraq: Journalists Encounter the Islamic State," inviting two photojournalists to speak about their profession. New York-based freelancer Victor Blue and retired U.S. Army Special Forces Lieutenant Colonel and Boulder alum Mitch Utterback discussed their work documenting war, conflict, and disaster zones on the ground in Iraq and locations around the world. Both men highlighted the importance of journalistic integrity while photographing in physically and emotionally trying conditions while trying to maintain transparency and accuracy in their work. The event was filmed by CSPAN.

- The Center for Western Civilization, Thought & Policy’s Director Robert Pasnau recently spoke as part of a panel at The Steamboat Institute’s 10th Annual Freedom Conference and Festival. The two-day conference and festival took place on Aug. 10-11 in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. Pasnau was one of many individuals invited to speak at the conference that is hosted every year as a setting for the nation’s conservative thought and policy leaders, as well as the general public, to gather and discuss policy issues the nation is currently facing.
