RiverWare Training and Workshop in Sri Lanka, 2017

David Neumann with the Mahaweli Water Security Investment Program training attendees

David Neumann of CADSWES traveled to Colombo, Sri Lanka, to continue teaching RiverWare to the Mahaweli Water Security Investment Program (MWSIP) of the Ministry of Mahaweli Development and Environment. The workshop, held July 31–August 11, 2017, included the Rulebased Simulation training class material as well as user support to help Sri Lankan engineers and water managers set up models of the system.

Their goal is to move water from the country’s largest river, the Mahaweli, to its dry zone in the north of the island for irrigation and drinking water purposes. The project will build and improve canals, reservoirs, and other irrigation infrastructure and conduct studies on improving water management and delivery systems.
