Taking learned outcomes from the Demystifying Entrepreneurship Yampa Valley course, this workshop shifts from developing a successful startup toward organizational growth and advancement.

ROUTT COUNTY, Colo., Oct. 4, 2022 - Yampa Valley returns to Hayden, Colorado on October 14 and 15. This two-day short course is designed for second-stage small businesses and organizations, specifically, those looking or needing to shift out of their startup phase and into “what’s

and University of Colorado Boulder Leeds School of Business Deming Center for Entrepreneurship ( Boulder) are collaborating to host this program and continue to support small business growth and development in the Yampa Valley. This year’s workshop will be taught by Erick Mueller and , entrepreneurs and award-winning professors at the Leeds School of Business. This interactive class will give existing small business owners, and aspiring entrepreneurs, the opportunity to evaluate their own business, learn growth and marketing strategies, understand the process of scaleup finance and funding and take their business to the next level.

The workshop kicks off with a reception on Friday, October 14 from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m. at the , and regroups on Saturday, October 15 from 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m at the . The Friday evening reception will feature food and beverages from , , , and , followed by a dynamic panel discussion spotlighting local business owners. Saturday’s class will include small group breakout sessions, practical exercises and plenty of opportunities to ask questions, plus lunch provided by .

Tammie Delaney is the owner of Wild Goose Coffee at the Hayden Granary and the Hayden Granary, as well as a graduate of Demystifying Entrepreneurship Yampa Valley 2021.

“As a business owner I rarely have time to step back and look at the big picture,” Delaney said. “The Demystifying Entrepreneurship workshop was a great opportunity to have the space and time, along with incredible expertise, to focus on long-term strategies and truly plan for the future.” This year she is looking forward to receiving more guidance and resources to help leverage a capital campaign for their nonprofit building rehabilitation.

Delaney also understands the value of hosting this event in the Yampa Valley at a critical time when the region is working through the possibilities of new economic drivers. “We are a transforming economy and the ability to innovate and adapt to the future ahead is essential not just for Hayden but the Yampa Valley as a whole.”

The Northwest SBDC is seeing continued growth in consulting requests from new and expanding businesses in the Yampa Valley, and this program will provide a great foundation and support for those
businesses. Early registration for the workshop is available through October 7 for $55 per person ($75 regular registration), with a limited number of scholarships still available. Registration includes all course materials, kickoff reception, breakfast, lunch and ongoing cohort communication. This multi-year partnership is also supported by the Town of Hayden, Steamboat Springs Chamber, Colorado Northwestern Community College and the Yampa Valley Entrepreneurship Center at Colorado Mountain College.
