This fall CESR welcomes a new faculty member to its team – Katie Malachuk. After a semester as a Discussion Leader (DL) this past spring for CESR’s Introduction to Business class, Malachuk felt the best part of being a DL was getting to know the students. She is teaching Business Applications of Social Responsibilitythis fall.
Katie’s Background
“As someone who has had many twists and turns in my professional path, I am very interested in how we can be our authentic selves while doing meaningful work. Within CESR, I hope to support students in aligning their values with their work in the world,” said Malachuk.
Malachuk graduated from Harvard University magna cum laude with a BA in Women’s Studies and received an MBA from Stanford University. Between college and business school, she was a third grade teacher for , a Georgetown Law School drop-out, and the National Director of Admissions for Teach For America. After business school, she worked for the Boston Consulting Group and an education start-up.
Upon leaving the corporate world, Malachuk became an MBA admissions consultant, yoga teacher, and life coach. She is the author of two books, and, which use mindfulness to make the college and MBA admissions processes into journeys of self-discovery. She recently graduated from Naropa University with a Master of Divinity where she focused on mindfulness and ethical issues in business, family and social systems, contemplative education, and authentic leadership. She serves on the spiritual care team at Boulder Community Health.
